☕Bungie 30th Anniversary Weapon Changes

Enough to change the meta?

A lot of weapon changes (and more) are planned to ship with the Bungie 30th Anniversary content drop on December 7th.

Here are the most important changes.

Shotguns

  • Slug shotgun PvE damage nerf by 10%

  • Other shotguns receive PvE damage buff by 10%

These changes are really to hurt the Anarchy + Double Slug shotgun DPS loadout that we’ve been using for the past year.

This change won’t make Aggressive shotguns better than Slugs in PvE.

  • Right now, Slugs do about 32% more damage than Aggressives.

  • After the changes, Slugs will still do about 16.5% more damage than Aggressives.

Linear Fusion Rifles

This is a great change!

Linear Fusion Rifles do the same amount of damage as other heavy weapons (actually about 5-10% less damage on average - not including Sleeper Simulant).

LFRs are getting a flat damage increase (Sleeper Simulant included!). Their delayed fire and needing precision shots to require a little more skill than just spamming rockets or grenade launchers.

  • Flat 10% damage buff to all LFRs

I’d also like to see a range or aim assist buff in PvE to legendary LFRs. This will help land precision shots a little easier. Or maybe a buff to the amount of max ammo.

After the buff, they’ll still only be slightly better than other options for more work.

Sidearms & Fusion Rifles

These will feel better to use if you play 60fps or higher.

Exotics

A lot of exotic changes. Most of them aren’t worth mentioning because they don’t move the needle or they’re not things that will get used.

Here are the full TWAB changes if you still want to know.

Vex Mythoclast

Will still be very good on PC. Maybe slightly less on Console.

  • 25 less Aim Assist

  • Slightly less LFR mode Aim Assist

  • Need 3 Eliminations to proc LFR mode (was 2)

Arbalest

Fantastic change for PvE! Will be a go-to for Lost Sector or Nightfall farming.

  • Now has intrinsic anti-barrier (like Eriana’s Vow)

Sleeper Simulant

This is going to be the meta in December (unless Particle Disruption is gone).

  • Mag size increased from 3 to 4

  • 6% damage buff (on top of the 10% all LFRs get)

Whisper of the Worm

Another iconic weapon from early Destiny 2 (reprised D1 weapon too). Should be better in PvE, but really depends on what the Artifact mods have.

  • Whispered Breathing procs faster after 1.2s (instead of 2.1s)

  • White Nail moves 3 bullets to the mag (1 from thin air)

  • 10% PvE damage buff

Dead Man's Tale

Big buffs for controllers and some minor buffs to keyboard and mouse!

  • Increased reticle stickiness (not on keyboard and mouse)

  • Less recoil (both)

  • Improved accuracy (both)

Heir Apparent

FINALLY! Nerfs to the catalyst that made you unkillable in PvP.

  • Damage resistance dropped to 25% (was 75%)

Perks

Adrenaline Junkie

Good change. Works similar to Swashbuckle now.

  • Eliminations add 1 stack at a time

  • Grenade kills add immediate x5 stack

Vorpal Weapon

Nerfs on specials/heavy because it’s easily the best perk. I’d like to also see other perks be buffed on heavies.

Heavy weapons are all about damage. All of the perks that don’t do anything to damage are going to always be overlooked. The same for most specials.

  • 10% damage for heavies

  • 15% for specials

  • 20% for primaries (this is going to feel very good!)

Pulse Monitor

Pretty huge buff for shotguns. Pulse Monitor grants 50 handling and 5% faster swap speed. It’ll now activate more quickly and with less risk.

  • They changed the threshold for activation from 90% health to 30% shield

Please share this with your friends 🥺

Have a great weekend!
