☕Destiny's Crafting Sounds Complicated

But its simpler than it seems

If you’ve read recent TWABs, you know Bungie isn’t holding back on the word counts. This one is so long that it takes the average reader 25 minutes!

The most important things they talked about are:

  1. Crafting

  2. Traits

  3. Foundries

  4. Weapon Nerfs/Buffs

  5. Perk Nerfs/Buffs

Crafting

Crafting in the Witch Queen can be broken up into a few steps:

  1. Collect weapon blueprints called Patterns

  2. Level randomly rolled weapons to collect Traits

  3. Collect materials used in crafting

  4. Select perks, barrels, mags, and weapon Trait to finish your crafted weapon

At any time, you can change your barrel, mags, or traits.

Each Exotic Glaive and the Exotic SMG (Osteo Striga) will also be craftable weapons.

Once you craft a weapon, then you kill more enemies and complete more activities to level it. Leveling increases the weapon’s stats and Traits.

What are Traits?

Every new and returning weapon in The Witch Queen will have an Origin Trait. There are 14 Origin Traits shipping with the expansion and Season 16. Every new season will add 3 new Traits (from new Season, raid/dungeon, & Seasonal event).

Here are some examples of Origin Traits that were shared:

Trials of Osiris:

  • Alacrity - When you’re the last one standing or solo:

    • +20 reload

    • +20 stability

    • +10 aim assist

    • +10 range

Nightfall:

  • Stunning Recovery - When you stun a Champion:

    • Partially refill magazine

    • +60 Health instantly

    • +40 recovery for 3 seconds

Crucible:

  • One Quiet Moment - When not in combat (haven’t dealt/received damage in 4 seconds):

    • +40 reload

Strikes:

  • Vanguard's Vindication - When you get final blow:

    • Gain 7 health

⚠Weapons won’t be able to use any Trait. For example, Nightfall weapons can use Nightfall or Vanguard Traits but won’t be able to use Trials or Gambit Traits.

Foundries

The problem with Destiny 2 lasting so many years is that similar weapons are nearly identical. There’s no noticeable difference between one Hakke Hand Cannon and another Hakke Hand Cannon.

Bungie is fixing that by giving each Foundry weapon perks that compliment the new Foundry Origin Traits. Those Traits are:

  • Suros - Reloading grants:

    • +40 Handling

    • 20% flinch resistance for 6 seconds

    • Foundry Identity: Consistency

  • Hakke - Deals increased damage to vehicles, turrets, barricades, and Stasis crystals

    • +15% to vehicles

    • +30% to everything else mentioned

    • Foundry Identity: Big damage

  • Omolon - First half of magazine has increased reload speed and stability

    • +20 Stability

    • +30 Reload

    • Foundry Identity: Ability tie-ins

  • Veist - Chance to partially refill magazine when doing damage

    • Foundry Identity: Never-stop-firing

The entire World Loot pool is being replaced by 12 new weapons inspired from Destiny 2’s Year-1 Foundry weapons.

  • 3 Suros

  • 3 Omolon

  • 3 Hakke

  • 3 Veist

Weapon Nerfs/Buffs

What are you most excited for in The Witch Queen? I have my fingers crossed that weapon crafting won’t be a boring slog - like upgrading any weapon in Destiny 1.

Have a great weekend!
