☕How to Get Perfect Armor in Destiny

Without Playing 40+ Hours Per Week

I work a full-time job, have a wife, a cat, and a ton of responsibilities around the home. The older I get, the less time I have for Destiny.

Destiny doesn't need to become a second job for you to get everything you want. Getting a great armor set is probably easier than you think.

Now’s your chance to get your armor ready for the insane Arc 3.0 builds once we get our hands on the update.

What does each armor stat do?

  • Resilience: This stat reduces the amount of damage you receive from PvE Combatants.

  • Recovery: This stat is how quickly your health begins recovering and how long the delay is before your shield recharges.

  • Mobility: This stat increases your walk & strafe speed. It also increases the height of your initial jump (DOES NOT AFFECT SPRINT SPEED)

  • Intellect: This stat reduces the BASE COOLDOWN of whatever Super Ability you have equipped.

  • Strength: This stat reduces the BASE COOLDOWN of whatever Melee Ability you have equipped

  • Discipline: This stat reduces the BASE COOLDOWN of whatever Grenade Ability you have equipped.

Want to know how much every stat tier does, I made a free cheatsheet you can grab.

What are the best stats for PvE and PvP?

In PvE, the stats you want to focus on are Resilience, Recovery, and Discipline or Strength. In PvP, the best stats are Recovery, Discipline, and the stat that affects your class ability.

Resilience was recently redesigned to decrease the amount of incoming damage you receive. The more Resilience you have, the weaker PvE enemies are against you. This change makes even Grandmaster-level content easier.

Recovery is powerful in both PvE and PvP because the faster you heal, the more you'll return from near death. The quicker you're back to full health, the sooner you're back to having fun.

With each new 3.0 update to our subclasses, the more powerful our abilities are. In PvE, melees usually begin a path of devastation on enemies. Grenades usually finish that devastation.

Out of these two abilities, it'll depend on what's more important to you. Creating more frequent destruction or more powerful destruction.

In PvP, your class ability opens a dozen doors for you. Some make your other abilities more powerful. Some lead to game-changing plays. Others just give you the upper hand you need to win.

How do I get armor with the highest stats?

Legendary armor cannot have more than 68 total armor stats (before masterworking or adding mods). Exotics can have up to 72 total armor stats.

Before you start farming for Armor, make sure you use a stat-focusing mod on your Ghost. I highly recommend using the Recovery Armorer mod or the Intellect Armorer mod on your Ghost.

A Major Recovery mod costs 4 points on your armor and a Major Intellect mod costs 5. These are very expensive and can cost you powerful mods used in your build.

The best sources for high-stat armor are:

  1. Master Wellspring

  2. Master Vault of Glass

  3. Master Vow of the Disciple

  4. Weekly Witch Queen missions

  5. Weekly Sever mission completion

  6. Focus engrams into armor at the Crown of Sorrow

Note: Master Vault of Glass and Master Vow of the Disciple will drop high-stat armor that prioritizes one stat. Each week, that stat will change.

This also compliments your Ghost. If they're dropping Discipline-focused armor, using a Recovery mod on your Ghost will drop armor with high stats in Discipline and Recovery.

How can I make a great armor set in 60 seconds?

Chances are you already have a ton of armor sitting in your Vault. If not, I recommend keeping all armor that has 60+ total stat points.

Go to D2ArmorPicker and connect your Destiny account. It'll show you the build you're looking for in 60 seconds (if you have the armor).

Select the stats that D2ArmorPicker should tailor your armor set to. As a Titan main, I want 100 Resilience and as much Recovery as possible. Now it shows me armor combinations that match what I selected.

I also want to make sure I'm using the Loreley Splendor Helm. I click on that exotic in D2ArmorPicker and it'll find the armor set that matches everything I want. If you click on the drop-down icon next to the armor set you like, D2ArmorPicker will even equip the armor for you.

In 60 seconds, you've got a great armor set put together for you.

How to Get Triple 100 Stats

Armor stats are split into two groups:

  1. Resilience, Recovery, and Mobility

  2. Intellect, Discipline, and Strength

It's impossible to get triple 100 stats in more than 2 stats in one group. For example, it's impossible to get 100 Resilience, 100 Recovery, and 100 Mobility at the same time.

The best strategy for triple 100s is to maximize two stats in Group 1 and one stat in Group 2. As you learned earlier, both Resilience and Recovery are two of the best stats to have. In PvE, they're crucial to survival.

Once you've picked the three stats you want to get to 100, you know what armor to look for. Here's what you need to get:

  • At least 10 points in Stat 1 on each armor piece

  • At least 20 points in Stat 2

  • At least 20 points in Stat 3

For example, if I want 100 Recovery, 100 Resilience, and 100 Discipline:

  • At least 10 points in Resilience on each armor piece

  • At least 20 points in Recovery

  • At least 20 points in Discipline

After you masterwork all of your armor, you'll just need to equip Major Resilience mods.

Have a great weekend!

Have you ever felt:

  • Gatekept from endgame content you paid for?

  • Anxiety and stress playing non-matchmade content?

  • The best loot is unobtainable?

  • You're wasting your time with nothing to show for it?

I will personally help you 1-on-1 get anything and everything out of Destiny. Fill your time with enjoyment and happiness rather than grind and uncertainty.
