Why Hunters Have Gone Extinct in Endgame PvE Content

Are they useless?

Good luck joining a Master Vault of Glass or Grandmaster Nightfall as a Hunter!

I've been in multiple runs where Hunters have been asked to leave if they couldn't or wouldn't swap to Warlock or Titan. The perception is that Hunters are useless in endgame content, providing little to no value compared to Warlocks or Hunters.

Is this true?

What Happened?

Warlocks and Titans have some very flashy and powerful builds right now.

Warlocks can Geomag Chaos Reach to clear a room or do huge Atheon damage in Master VoG. Shadebinder has incredible neutral game with a Stasis turret that constantly freezes enemies. Well of Radiance has always been overpowered.

Titans have Ward of Dawn, which is still the highest buff in the game. With the recently added Cuirass of the Falling Star exotic chest piece, Titans have a massive super for boss dps and instantly killing high-value targets. There's also Ursa Furiosa Titan for constant uptime on the team's supers AND blocking all incoming damage in Grandmasters.

All of these builds solve major endgame problems that cause wipes.

Are Hunters Useless?

Of course not! Hunters have multiple endgame builds. They just don't have something uniquely powerful all to themselves.

There's:

  • Bottom Tree Nightstalker with Omniocculus

  • Aeon Soul Gauntlet Revenant

  • Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun

Tomorrow's post will go into how to build your Hunter for endgame content and the value each build provides.

Hunters aren't useless in endgame PvE. They're just not popular right now.
