What’s new with the Solstice summer event

Destiny Seasonal events often feel overly convoluted. What should be a fun event feels complicated with extra steps, hidden mechanics, and too many currencies to track.

The fix? An Event Card to organize objectives and guide players through the event.

Head to Eva Levante in the Tower. She’ll give you your Solstice Event Card and you can view it from your Quests tab.

Inside, you’ll find Solstice’s:

  • Event Seals and title

  • Event Challenges

    • Complete these for Event Tickets

  • Event Tickets

    • Used to purchase rewards from Upgraded Event Card

  • Upgraded Event Card Rewards

    • Costing you 1,000 Silver (ie. $10 USD)

Free Solstice Rewards

Back in May, Bungie let us know what rewards would be free vs paid. Most likely, all of the free rewards are:

  • x2 Ghost Holograms

  • Exotic Ship

  • Skateboarding Emote

  • Event Legendary Weapon

  • Free Solstice armor glow

Paid Solstice Rewards

You can purchase the Upgrade for your Event Card at any point in the event. Again, this costs 1,000 Silver. Those items are:

On top of the new Upgraded Event Card, there’s the Eververse Armor ornaments that every event has.

These typically cost 1,500 Silver per class.

A Taste of the Future of Armor

I was just reminiscing about how simple Destiny 1’s armor system was. There were only 3 armor stats.

It was very easy to plan your armor and know EXACTLY what you needed for your perfect armor set.

Destiny 2’s armor system has only gotten more complicated over the years. Especially if you’re a new player.

But it sounds like it’s about to be much easier to get the armor you really want. The exact armor rolls you’re after.

Armor Focusing

If this system does well during Solstice, I imagine we’ll see it coming in Season 19 (the final season of The Witch Queen) or with the next expansion (Lightfall).

Here’s how it will work during Solstice:

  1. Complete Event Challenges

  2. Earn Kindling

  3. Use Kindling to permanently upgrade your Solstice armor stat roll potential

  4. Complete non-Solstice activities for Silver Leaves

  5. Complete the Solstice Activity to turn Silver Leaves into Silver Ash

  6. Use Silver Ash to reroll armor stats

I’m not sure why there’s so many event currencies after what happened with Transmog and Weapon Crafting.

Xur

Go get the Crown of Tempests Warlock helmet from Xur! It has 70 TOTAL STAT POINTS and will be great to have for Arc 3.0 next month.

Trials

No Trials of Osiris this week because Iron Banner is live. Remember, this is the FINAL week of Iron Banner for this season.

Next Week

  • Solstice begins

  • Extra Vanguard ranks

  • Warden of Nothing Nightfall

  • Mayem and Zone Control

  • Pinnacle Last Wish and Shattered Throne

Have a great weekend!
