☕Will these 5 changes SAVE Trials of Osiris?

Bungie is going to try

Good morning! Time for some ☕coffee and Destiny 2 news.

Bungie dropped a 2,000-word post about the Trials of Osiris changes. No one has ten minutes to read that.

Here’s what you need to know in LESS time than it will take your coffee to be at a drinkable temperature.

1) Trials Matchmaking

You can queue into Trials as:

  • solo player

  • you + a friend

  • you + two friends

2) Cheaters & Account Recoveries (Boosting Services)

Cheaters have ruined Trials for months. Every Trials weekend, TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars changes hands through carrying/boosting services.

Here’s what’s changed:

  • BattlEye Anti-Cheat

    • Will catch many ‘dumb’ cheaters but not all cheaters

    • This entire company specializes in anti-cheat so Bungie can focus on what they specialize in

    • Detected cheaters will be automatically banned

  • Legal action against cheat makers

    • They’re removing the weeds at the source

  • Both the buyer and seller of Account Recovery / Boosting services will be perma-banned

3) Loot, Loot, and LOOT!

Saint-14 has an entirely new reward system. Bungie explained it in 500+ words. Here’s it in 50 words:

  • Trials Tokens are gone

  • Saint-14 has reputation ranks like Zavala or Shaxx do for Vanguard or Crucible reputation

  • Win more individual rounds in a Trials match 👉 get more reputation at end of the match

  • Rank up gives you Trials engram, masterwork materials, and random-rolled loot

  • Turn in Trials engram for specific gear (like Umbral engrams)

  • Two pinnacles each week → Win 7 matches & win 50 total rounds

4) Casual and Hardcore Friendly

Trials of Osiris has only been good for two types of people - Cheaters and Recovs making lots of money.

  1. Casual players stopped long ago when they got stomped match-after-match with no loot for their time.

  2. Hobbyist players quickly left once they started getting stomped.

  3. And Hardcore players would get rewarded better by playing PVE.

Casual players can just play and be rewarded for the time they put in. You’ll no longer be gatekept by 3/5/7 and flawless wins.

Hobbyist players will have a better experience when there are more bad, average, and good players in matchmaking.

Hardcore players will get more rewards more often the better they are at PVP.

Everyone wins.

5) Nuture Healthy Population

No Trials during the 1st week of a season, before a World First Raid Race, or when Iron Banner is available.

Losses are no longer tracked. The passage is either flawless or not.

As long as you play, you’ll get rewards. No more gatekeeping casual or average players.

Bungie’s goals are to get more people playing, shower players with more loot, and improve the Trials’ experience for everyone.

If this helped you out or saved you some time, please share this newsletter with other people. It would mean SO much to me and help this grow and get better.

Have a good day, Guardian.
